alder springs deaf & blind community activities building
Location: Morganton, NC
Alder Springs is the only nonprofit community for the deaf, deafblind, blind, and hard of hearing in the United States. All construction is funded entirely by charitable gifts, pledges, and grants. Alder Springs is designed to simplify day-to-day living through an ingenious blend of smart architecture, inspired technology, and a delightful location.
As a part of the current capital campaign, design is underway for an 8,000 SF free-standing Activity Center. The center will serve as the hub of resident life and is centrally located in the community. A large multi-purpose room will host a variety of events and will serve both the residents and the broader community. A catering kitchen, small lending library, flexible classroom, resident activity room, patio, and outdoor courtyard space will also be incorporated into the building.
