Serving our county since 1977, the Burke Arts Council is coming to the end of construction on their new home. The former Burke Farm Supply building was originally constructed in 1959 by brothers Charles and Robert Arney. The building’s vaulted timber ceilings provide the perfect backdrop for new galleries and exhibit spaces. This first phase of improvements to the building will bring both interior and exterior spaces to promote local artists and engage our community.
Burke Arts Council back porch V-columns in place!
The guys with V. Stewart McKee Construction and Powell’s Welding did some heavy lifting today at the Burke Arts Council. The former loading dock is gone and the new back porch is coming to life! The back porch will serve as an outdoor space for gathering as well as performances and other live events.
BURKE ARTS COUNCIL EXTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS
We are very excited with the exterior progress on the new home of the Burke Arts Council. New exterior canopies on the front will welcome in the community to the new and expanded art galleries. In the rear, a former loading dock is being transformed into an event stage and outdoor space for gathering, live music, and the performing arts.
MURPHY'S FARM RENOVATION
Nearing completion on the renovation of the barns at Murphy’s Farm. Final site grading and paving is underway. The new metal roofs are sharp and add new clean lines to the historic structures. We can’t wait to see the residents of Murphy’s Farm enjoying the new Commons building!
LAKE HOUSE 01 - CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Framing is well underway up at Lake James. A skylight located over a centrally located stairwell will bring daylight deep into the heart of the house. Rough openings are beginning to frame the views to the lakefront. Roof trusses have arrived onsite and will be erected this week. Stay tuned for more progress!
